Tom's Top 5 Awesome Things This Week...5-23-11

Top 5: 

For the week of 5-23-11:

HM: all the awesome food I ate on Sunday - ate a ton of awesome
Mexican food for breakfast and, later, vietnamiese food for dinner.

5. bridesmaids/ the $1 bin at crush comics - went to a matinee with Melanie to see "Bridesmaids" this week. It was a fun movie that had me laughing a few times. 7/10. After the movie, Mel and I drove to Castro valley and went to Crush comics. And while Flying Colors Comics is my favorite, the $1 bins are awesome at Crush. I managed to find some cool stuff. It was a fun day off with the Melanie .

4.  the albacore tuna sandwich from The Habit- In all honesty, everything I've tried at the habit thus far, has been fantastic. And this tuna was no exception.

3. Finally, , after starting the series over WAAAY back in November, finishing the Harry Potter series - it took me hella months to finish those 7 books but it was fun re-reading the best series I've ever read . I can't wait for the next movie to come out.

 2. The ground beef and spinish over rice Melanie made - always a crowd favorite ( the crowd being just me ). I love when Melanie makes this dish.

1. Kung Fu panda 2 - what a fun movie !! I loved the first Kung Fu panda and didn't expect it to be as good as the first one. Full of funny lines & situations, as well as action, I enjoyed the hell out of this. The first one is a 9/10, this sequel is a 8.5/10. Can't wait for the DVD !!

For the week of 5-16-11

5.  quesadilla suiza I had on Sunday - carne asada, cheese, tortilla... Simply awesome...

4. meatball sandwich from Marruccis- I have yet to have a bad thing from this deli... A fantastic sandwich !!

3.  watching the giants sweep a 2 game series from the dodgers - beat la !! Beat la !!

2.  pirates of the carribean: on strange tides- when I first found they were making a pirates 4, I was a bit skeptical. But, as the trailers came out more and more we decided to check it out. And it was a fun summer movie and, in this awesome gentlemans opinion, the best one since part 1. I'll give it a 7/10.

1.  the ponthay Melanie's dad made after Mel bugged him all week - I don't know how to spell it right but, really, it should be spelled
H-E-L-L-A 
T-A-S-T-Y. Even the leftovers were, as the kids say, the bomb !!

Toms Top 5 Awesome Things This week 5/9/11

For the week of 5-9-11:

5. bootlegging, the return- fir the first time in a long time, I went to the swap meet and bought some bootleg DVD movies. The quality was good on some, DVD quality on others.

4. universal studios on Monday - with our last day in socal, we decided to head back to universal studios ( the tickets we got were get 2 days for tge price of one !!) and ride a few more rides ( simpsons ride !! Jurassic park !! King kong 3d !!). We went to the special effects show... And I was picked to be in the show !! I wore a safari hat and, infront of a green screen, ran from a friggin dinosaur. And now I can say I, Tom, have made a movie ( less than a min long but whatever) for universal.

3. " Fast Five" - I'm not going to dance around it, I like the fast & the furious movies ( part one & two are the best ) and this, honestly, was pretty decent. Though a lack of actual racing, and the dialogue was bad/funny, it still managed to entertain me as I munched popcorn. 7/10.

2. Eating at Pink's hot dogs/ Going to golden apple comics- while in LA we decided to check out a place we've seen on food network ( guy fietti went there, I think...?), the line was long but we eventually got our food . I kid you not, whomever is reading, it was the BEST F'N hot dog ( polish sausage if we are being specific) I've EVER had !! It was a polish with Swiss cheese and pastrami !! The next time I'm back down there I'm going back for another.

Itwas around the year 2000 I think that I read in a Wizard magazine that, when in hollywood,check out Golden Apple Comics...its where the celebs get there comics !!and, while on this trip, I decided to check it out. Bonus,it was down the street from Pinks hot dogs !! A cool place that, while not as bad ass as Flying Colors Comics,

What's been awesome about your week?was still fun to visit. I got some cool stuff and we had fun checking it out. As I walked out, thanks to facebook and there "check in", I ran into someone I knew from high school ( What's up Evan !!). It was cool seeing someone I knew, so far from home.

1. Tommy & Melly's 3rd Anniversary -
On May 10th I celebrated 3 years with my Melanie . And for 3 years she has made me smile, the first person I see in the morning, the last one I see at night, because of her my apt became a home. She's my best friend and the best part of my day
Our anniversary vacation,from the giants game we went to kick off our trip (check out last weeks Top 5, Mel got my friggin name on the Giants jumbotron !!) to the entire trip to LA, it was fantastic and I look forward to many more anniversaries with the one and only love of my life .

For the week of 5-2-11:

5. having dinner with Mels mom and the Ganda girls on wed - celebrating an early mothers day. It was good food and great company.

4. having papusas and menudo on Friday afternoon with my mom and Melanie 

3. Watching the Giants come from behind to beat Rockies 4-3 on Willie mays 80th bd - what a great game!! Had some beers, ate a burger, hung out with my Melly and had a fantastic time ! We got replica statues of Willie ( which I accidentally broke the arm on mine already). Great start to our anniversary vacation.

2.  road trip to la with my Melly - in which we heard great tunes, had plenty of snacks, ate at Anderson's pea soup and made great time to Burbank .

1. universal studios on Sunday - for our anniversary ( 3 years !! More on this next week) Melly and I went to Universal studios ... And it was so much fun !! It was nowhere near full so we went on all the awesome rides a bunch of times. We ate churros and walked around the universal citiwalk.
This was not the end of our socal adventure... More on this in next weeks Top 5....

For the week of 4-18-11

5. the awesome random sunflower seed, poppy seed bagel from Safeway I had with butter in my break Thursday - for some reason I woke up wanting a bagel and, growing tired of the bagels at the biz, I went to Safeway and picked up this little gem. With only a bit of butter it turned into and awesome treat on what was a busy day.

4.  Fosters home for imaginary friends- Melanie has been talking about this show for a long time now and I'd never seen it till this week. And it was funny. Looking forward to seeing more. And soon. 

3. giants game with chris king- though the wrong team won ( atl), it was fun hanging out with dr. King

2. A fantastic thursday night- in which we ate Rocco's pizza, watched baseball on tv, the Jackson 5 played in the backround and i got to spend tine with Mel & Ashley. All this = awesome

1. Easter lunch with mom, aunt nana, uncle Bobby, Frannie, Ashley & Melanie - tons of good food, even better people.
