Tom's Top 5 Awesome Things This Week... 6-27-11

For the week of 6-27-11:

5.  wolverine # 11- quickly becoming one of my favorite series to read. This story, a part in the "wolverines revenge" story arc, was great. The story is about perspective...while Logan is a superhero, for the families of the thousands of people he's killed, he is a monster who ruins lives. And what would happen if a group of these people spent there lives plotting revenge. A great read.

4.  - Thursday - the food at resturante el Salvador/ the Popsicles at the farmers market across the street- great dinner of papusas and, while walking around the farmers market with Melanie, had a blueberry ice Popsicle ( though, honestly, the cucumber lime pop Mel had was better)


3. The Pleasanton county fair with mom, Ashley & Melly - ate a ton of food ( BBQ, oysters, all manner of unhealthy fried treats) and had a great time with my family.


2.  A's game on Friday with Melly- the weather was hot, perfect for a ballgame . And since the giants were out of town we decided to check out an A's game. I like the A's ( I love the giants !!) . And the tickets were cheap ( $12 ticket got us a $6 food voucher, free tshirt for Mel/ free foam finger for me. ) later we snuck down to the expensive seats where we were attacked by nats. Hundreds of them. Despite this we had hella fun. Oh and the A's won.

1. My Saturday : on saturday i gotout of work early, it was a hot day so the store was slow. I went to picked up a Harry potter magazine for Melanie. I went home to Melanie and Ashley was over visiting. We went to flying colors comics and I picked up the new issue of Wolverine and some other stuff. We went home and Melanie cooked some awesome garlic chicken&rice. It was still super hot so we went to the San Francisco Creamery to have some floats ( I had a sherbert freeze) and, later,  i watched the giants score 15 runs ( even with a 2 1/2 hr rain delay) to stomp the tigers. What a fantastic day !!

Tom's Top 5 Awesome Things This Week... 6-20-11

For the week of 6-20-11:


On any given week any one of these could've been #1. Looking back on it, I had me a kick ass week !!

5. the torta cubano I had on Sunday- and while I've had this before, this combination of beef/ham/cheese/bacon (while not the healthiest thing in the world) was particularly tasty this week.

4. dinner on sat night @ mi pueblo supermarket/ taqueria with Mels mom, Ashley & Melanie - you wouldn't think a supermarket that has a restaurant in it would have kick ass tacos & seafood... But it friggin DID !! I can't wait to go back !!

3. "Regular Show" - this week Melly played a show for me from cartoon network called Regular Show ( no bullspit, that's the name) and it was hilarious !! Full of funny catch phrases ( and we all know I'm all about a good catch phrase), crazy senarios and off the wall characters ( a talking gumball
Machine named Benson... Why not !?!?). For the rest of the week Mel and I have been watching episodes on YouTube .

2. Going to the game on friday with melanie and watching the giants beat the Indians 4-3 - a great interleauge game with the giants coming from behind to win the game !!
 
1. My fantastic Monday - day off on monday. And because of this melanie, ashley & I went to the city and, thanks to a notice on the knbr facebook page, we ended up meeting giants CF andres Torres. Got to shake his hand and get an autographed baseball. Because we were by tge embarcadero we decided to pick up the always tasty burgers served at reds java house.  We ate our burgers at my moms house. It was great spending time with mom, Ashley & Melanie aka some of my most favorite people in the world !! We drove back to walnut creek and said goodbye to ashley who drove home. While looking around Ondemand for something to watch we saw a section called nickelodeon Rewind and, SCORE !!, we saw they had episodes of "Doug". This was awesome news as, growing up, I always really liked this show. Doug used to write in his journal (rare for a boy cartoon i would say) and, while I didn't have a journal, I liked to write down stuff too. It was so much fun rewatching Doug, the show still held up. My Monday was a fantastic one.

Tom's Top 5 Awesome Things This Week... 6-13-11

For the week of 6-13-11:

5. olive garden with my mom & Melanie- all you can eat soup & breadsticks. Yes please.

4.  the California dreamin' sandwich at Safeway I had Thursday - it's been awhile since I've had this sandwich . But, , this week,  while working a long day, I decided to get it for lunch. It was tasty as hell.

3. Emilio's surprise birthday party @ spoontonic - mel & I celebrated our friend Emilio's birthday with a few drinks and a few laughs.

2. After a long day at work Friday,  having a good dinner and some beers at Mellos with Melanie - went out to eat with my Melly and had some great food. The giants/a's game was on and we drank some beers. It was a great night with my most favorite person in the world.

1. Fathers day with Mels family -  Fathers day, for me, for obvious reasons ( dont feel like rehashing now) has always been a weird one. This year, in fact, was the first one in my life I did not spend with either my dad or uncle Bobby and my mom. 

Fathers day, the first few years without my dad, and these last few with my uncle Bobby not being well, have been not great shall we say. These last few being particularly hard.

However, this year i went to spend fathers day with Melanies family. I was looking forward to it, I hadn't seen everyone in sometime. And I had a great time. Great food, great company, GREAT time.

For the week of 6-5-11:

HM: skins- Mel and I have been watching the British version of this show ( far better than it's crap US counterpart) on netflix through the xbox. A decent show that is at times funny.

5. playing with puppies- Melanies mom's dog had puppies and this week we went to play with them. It was fun, they are so little and adorable.

4. wolverine #10- the latest Logan solo series is becoming one of my favorite comics to read. I have every issue thus far. This issue, revealing the back story on the group set out to finish wolverine once and for all, was a good read.

3.  Marruccis 6 1/2- I decided to try Melanies favorite sandwich from this deli. Tomato, motzarella & procuitto. And despite


2.bravos pizza- after a long spell of going without, it was great to have a few slices of the best pizza in the world.

1. Getting to sit in $5 seats with frannie, ashley & melanie to watch the giants beat washington in 13 innings !!

Tom's Top 5 Awesome Thibgs This Week 5-30-11

Top 5: 

For the week of 5-30-11:

5.  in-n-out burgers for dinner- always tasty. I got a double double with animal style fries.

4. the heartbreaker ( French movie) - Melanie has been telling me about this movie for a week or two now and, this week, finally managed to sit me down long enough to watch on netflix instant. I thought I would be distracted by the subtitles but I wasn't. A funny movie that I really enjoyed. 7/10.

3. "Thor"- I'm not a big fan of Thor . And by not a big fan i really mean , not a fan at all. I was in fact not planning on seeing this movie until it came to DVD. Then, I found someone selling it on bootleg for $2 and I decided to check it out. A good quality bootleg ( though with Spanish subtitles on the bottom), I'll be honest and say I enjoyed this movie WAAAY more than I thought I would. Decent action and a good job by the guys who played Thor & his brother Loki . I'll give it a 7.5/10

2. watching Ducktales with Ashley & Melanie - growing up I watched the Disney afternoon almost everyday after school. And of all the shows on there my favorite was Ducktales ( Talespin being the other favorite). A long time ago, I found Ducktales on DVD used at amoeba. And while looking for something to watch saturday night, Ashley, Melanie & I  decided to check out some of the adventures of Scrooge Mcduck & co. It was a great time !!

1. X-men first class - this movie, the opposite of Thor , we've  been looking forward to seeing since it was announced more than a year ago. I was excited to see the mutants when they were young and then, when I heard they were focusing on prof. X & magneto ( magneto was supposed to get his own Xmen origins movie but they bailed on it) I was a bit skeptical. Then when I found out cyclops, iceman & co wouldn't even be in the movie, I doubted even going. The trailers looked cool so Melanie, Ashley & I decided to go. And I thought it was great. Although I think I should watch again before "officially" saying this, I'm going to "unofficially " say this was the best Xmen movie I've seen yet ( knocking X2 from the top spot). Full of action, inside comic geek nods & winks and some pretty good performances ( the guys who played Charles & Magneto stood out). I'm going to give this movie a 8.5/10. Looking forward to the DVD ( or, maybe, bootleg first).

6-5-11

Haven't written in a few days, so much for this "I'm going to write everyday in June" thingy.

The past few days I haven't had to work and, because of this, I've been having fun. ( Top 5 coming soon). Today is my last day off and we are headed ( back) to the giants game today. Thanks to Melanie & stubhub. Com we are going to see Timmy pitch for only $5 a ticket !! Results !!

I'm looking forward to today and getting to hang out with melanie, Frannie & Ashley .

Slept in. Huge breakfast. Lazy mornin'. Great sandwich for lunch. Tons o' beers and kick ass giants game.

This day, however, wouldn't nearly have been as fun if Melanie hadn't been with me all day. She's awesome a makes a good time great.
